CU Denver Made Move-In Day Fun with Boulder Blimp Inflatables
One of the most exciting days for any young person is the day they move out of the nest and into college party dorm life. Am I right? Of course, I am! Freedom and visions of omitting the truth of your class attendance to your parents never tasted so sweet. There’s a fine line between excitement and anxiety, however. So, how DO you quell the fears of incoming freshman and their blubbering parents? CU Denver knew exactly what to do: they called us! A giant custom inflatable of their beloved mascot – Milo the Lynx – was just what the doctor ordered to add some disarming fun to the stress of move in day. Since we’re on the topic of education, it’s always wise to know how any process works so you have a better understanding. Knowledge is power after all so, I wanted to share how a project goes from just an idea to an actual inflatable character.
When CU Denver reached out to us, they provided the picture to the right and gave us their desired specifications. In this case, they wanted Milo to unmistakably stand out from the crowd at a whopping 20′ tall! From there, our graphic designers worked their magic by creating a sketch and a 3D model [below] of what the finished inflatable lynx will look like. The sketches were then sent to the client so they could proof the design and make any adjustments. After CU Denver got back to us, giving us the thumbs up, we sent our production team the sketches so they can work their magic and bring the whole thing to life. I like to think of them as the Dr. Frankensteins of our operation. Once construction was complete after a few weeks, all that was left was to make sure our faithful client got their inflatable mascot in time for their event. The result is a towering and handsome Milo the Lynx inflatable that everyone wanted to get pictures with on move in day. I mean…how can you not feel safe in a strange new place with a super sized lynx that has a face that means business?
